With so much focus on social media and email, nonprofit websites are often in need of some love and attention . . .  and we aren’t just talking about redesigns!

When was the last time you thoughtfully considered your website’s content strategy and the implications for your search engine optimization (SEO)?

There is both real art and science behind creating content that shines online to attract Google and other search engines while also serving and engaging your community members. Whether you’re dealing with an established website or starting anew, we’ll give you practical insights for mapping out a successful SEO content strategy.

Building an SEO strategy around the core topics related to your mission has many benefits:

  • Increased Visibility: Boost your online presence and drive more organic traffic to your site
  • Shareable and Link-Worthy Content: Create content that resonates so well, your audience will want to share and link to it.
  • Engage Your Community: Provide personal, useful, and timely content that truly connects.
  • Boost Brand Trust: Earn credibility and trust by ranking higher in search results.
  • Measurable Impact: Watch your communications efforts yield measurable results.

We’ll start the Master Class with some training on what SEO looks like today, especially given the rise of AI-generated content. What does Google want from your website? How can you create website content that will deliver and rank highly while also meeting the needs of your organization?

Next, we will help you define what we call your Core Topics. These are the subjects that matter most to your nonprofit. We’ll discuss ways to align content strategy with your community’s interests. (We call this “putting some cheese on your broccoli.”) These answers will guide your creation of cornerstone or pillar content – the heart of your SEO strategy.

Finally, we will help you visually draw out your SEO strategy using the hub-and-spoke approach, where you cluster increasing more detailed or niche content pages around your pillar content. We’ll talk about how to link everything together to bolster your authority and rankings, whether you have a blog or not or use landing pages or not. We’ll also weave in some new trends like searcher-specific content.

We’ll close with next steps to map out the implementation of your new plan.

As always, any tools we mention during the Master Class will be free or affordable for nonprofits. If you have a favorite tool for mind mapping, you can use that during the Master Class to develop your hub-and spoke model. Otherwise, we will provide some easy-to-use suggestions you can immediately use during the workshop.  Pencil and paper work well too!

What Others Have Said about Our Master Classes

“My favorite things were the break-out sessions and being forced to write! I liked working on real-world examples and then seeing the results and hearing others results, too. I found the Master Class even more helpful than your regular lecture-style training.” Whitney Smith, The North Carolina Arboretum

“I thought it was helpful real time ‘workshopping’ with others. You two are pros!” – Brooke Gilder, Greater Good Grant Consulting

“Good mix of theory and immediate hands-on practice.” – Estelle Jobson, The European Association for the Study of the Liver

“My favorite part was the opportunity to try out different styles of writing and hear the examples created by other groups. It didn’t feel like 3 hours.” – A.S.

“I found this Master Class more – WAY – more helpful than regular webinars. It kept me engaged and was more challenging and fun. I loved being able to put what we learned into action and connect with others in the workshop. Great, great job. Thank you so much!” – Katie

“The breakout rooms and a chance to dig in and do the work was my favorite part. We were a little shy to start with but warmed up quickly.” – O.B.

“I thought it was put together quite well. I appreciated the focus given to specific writing styles. I don’t think like that in my work. I do use the different styles but not so intentionally. “ – Beth Gibbins, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Des Moines
